Which Comes First: Makeup or Hair?

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Let's be honest...it doesn't really matter. What does matter, however, is the order in which your hair and makeup styling takes place. At The Styling Stewardess, we have the getting-ready process down to a science. The result? Wilt-proof curls and makeup that lasts all night long. Here's how we make it happen.

Step One: Set

As soon as you take your seat at our studio, we'll set your hair in rollers to ensure the longest-lasting look possible. Heat will cause your hair to curl, and the shape will solidify while cooling down. This is the foundation of a picture-perfect style that lasts all night, whatever the occasion.

Step Two: Makeup

An added benefit of setting your hair in curlers first is getting it out of the way for phase two: makeup. This makes for a smoother and more flawless makeup application. Plus, we want to save the mascara for your eyelashes—not your baby hairs.

Step Three: Style

Now we are ready to get down to business! Curlers come down and makeup brushes are set aside as your stylist prepares to complete your hairdo. Since your makeup is already done, now is a great time for your photographer to capture the remainder of your getting-ready process with your game face on.

You've heard "Get ready, get set, go"—right? Well, we say things a little differently around our studio. For the longest-lasting look possible, we take a "Get set, get ready, go" approach. Every time.
